i thought O had to be somewhere much earlier — or so i thought, in the middle of sex this morning — but she seemed to be in no rush.

we are becoming more comfortable with each other, which is evident in how she guides me around, demonstrating more and more of what she wants. we are two young people in prime sex-having years — no reason not to show me exactly how i might make the most of it.

i appreciate her very much, for much more than sex. i walked her over to the west village where she was off to rehearse a scene, and we stopped for paninis on the way over there. the weather is quite perfect, and now that it gets dark so much earlier, it's all the more important to spend time outside in the daylight, like we did.

then, i walked, all day.

in the evening:

thousands of phone cameras pointed west, instruments toward a conductor, light sensors hailing the great ball of light descending from our sky.

somewhere along washington street, i stood in front of a street lamp and faced the sun and watched people take their photos, watched the silhouette of a tree bow back and forth in the light, watched the church sunbathe before the coming winter.

on the way home:

there's a man, a young man, who is ten years older than me. he has an endless youth that is stuck some time in the 1950s or 60s, as is evident by his clothing, his briefcase, and, sometimes, his ideals — though consider him a liberal, progressive man in the 1960s, and a forward-thinking yet occasionally backward in the modern day.

he is an acquaintance who i met at washington square park, bright and good-natured. every time we talk, he mentions his use of DuckDuckGo instead of Google, since it gives different results for the man Paul Warburg, who was somehow instrumental in the creation of U.S. finance as we know it today.

anyway, i saw my friend while i was walking home in soho, and we strolled for about twenty-five minutes together, tossing around ideas and carrying what i hope he felt was an interesting conversation. he is a character, and he is something else, and i can only hope that the more i discover about him, the more there is to appreciate, rather than finding more to be skeptical of. so goes the fun of getting to know people.
