Re: Re: Free Speech

I have been sitting on this post, unwritten, stewing around in my head for a while now. Given the recent woke gemidrama, I thought now as good a time as any to finally write this up.

2022-05-02 Re: Free Speech

Frankly (summary of gemidrama)

Free speech, as great as it is in theory, has allowed a mind virus to take root and proliferate in modern society: wokeness.

Western society is deteriorating and collapsing, has been for a long time. Woke supremacists and social justice warriors (SJWs) run the Western world these days. Things have gotten much worse in the past 10-15 years, though there are parts of the country beginning to enact policies to combat it. Will they succeed? Time will tell; it is an uphill, multi-generational battle though.

But I digress.

Back on topic: free speech and wokeness.

Reason

You cannot reason with these people: try, and they always resort to screaming and shouting and taking offense, much like, if not precisely because they are, narcissists. You'd think people would see right through the inanity of the woke arguments and the narcissistic outrage if you dare to refuse to bow down and worship at their feet, but it infects and spreads uncontrollably. Hence the term 'woke mind virus', as coined by our friend Elon.

The woke mob eats its own. One would think the rampant infighting would cause the ideology to implode under its own weight. Case in point: Richard Stallman. I am not going to reiterate why specifically he was booted from his own organization, the Free Software Foundation (FSF), but the higher level points are as follows:

He himself is woke

He made an argument on purely rational grounds

Said argument dared to diverge from the groupthink of the woke mob

People got emotional and hated him for it

He was forced out of his life's work

They didn't try to have a rational discussion with him. No, no, that would be reasonable, can't have that (sarcasm). They simply made a bunch of noise and signed a petition to have him removed from the FSF.

Another example: the 2020 summer of riots and looting, or as CNN would have you believe (as the anchor stands in front of a burning building), 'mostly peaceful protests'. There are multiple levels of insanity with that entire situation, so much so that that could be its own dedicated post, which I have no interest in writing. That said, at the time, anyone who pointed out the absurdity of canonizing an established violent criminal was vilified.

More examples:

Aunt Jemima

Land-O-Lakes Butter lady

Dave Chappelle

... Freedom?

Free speech allowed wokeness in. Now, how to criminalize woke speech, legally, through the legislative and judicial system, without such policies being used against us? Because doing so would certainly require repealing the 1st Amendment, the thought of which I find hard to stomach. I don't have the answer to this one. Yet I do firmly believe that the woke should be regarded and treated as criminally insane. Commit them all to insane asylums.

Just last year in my original post on free speech I was railing against, what I thought at the time was, the absurdity of the so-called 'Paradox of Tolerance'. The woke have used one of our great pillars of freedom, free speech, to get to where they are today. Yet they are the ones who beat everyone else over the head with their ideology and ram it down our throats, and want to eradicate everyone else's rights and freedoms. I guess we've come full circle: those of you who argued with me on those grounds last year, I accept your Paradox of Tolerance as prescient and ... also ironic ... because those who scream it the loudest are actually themselves the 'intolerance' against which they warn.

A Definition

As I think on this, I am not sure exactly how to write the rest of this post without providing a concrete definition, with examples, of 'woke'. Alas, I must tread carefully with that, lest I incur the wrath of the 21st century Spanish Inquisitiolmnopqrstuvwxyz [sic].

Simply put, woke means: choosing to live, or to support the actions and lifestyles thereof, one of today's many ... alternative lifestyle choices. For example:

Anheuser-Busch (specifically, Bud Light)

Target

Get woke, go broke. I hope those 2 go bankrupt.

It also means supporting certain public policies that concern mUh eQuAl oUtCoMeS vs. pure meritocracy. Basically the 21st century variation of Marxism, substituting Marx's class struggles out for racial struggles. For example:

Coca Cola telling people they should be 'less White'

Pretty much anything that comes out of the 2020s Democratic Party in the United States

Leftist identity politics

What's Next?

Where do we as a society go from here? The woke and anti-woke ideologies are irreconcilable. I think the political migrations that are already occurring within the US will be great for boosting morale and cleaning up local cultures (for one side at least). Californians are seeking freedom in Texas, while anti-freedom Texans and Floridians (the irony of the left seeming to think Texas and Florida actually represent anti-freedom is not lost on me) are moving to California. Politically similar states are experiencing similar shifts. It sure beats the disenfranchisement and disgust that comes with being a political minority in your own state. The blue areas will become bluer; the red redder.

I know this post will have ruffled quite a few feathers. To those offended by my words, I offer you the following:
