An old tale from the Zen-Buddhist oral tradition

It has been a sunny warm late spring's day.

the monastery gardens were burst-blossoming .

The Zen master ended his last meditation session and

slowly and gently (like only cats and Zen masters know how to),lied down for night rest.

After the light-sleep a vivid and lucid dream was displayed ; he experimented himself

as a butterfly , in a light subtle body , flying in low gravity , intense flower's colors

ecstatic lysergic aromas and incredible beautiful visions of burst-blossoming gardens in a late spring's day. Then the day turned into a stormy evening and heavy rain showered.

The butterfly found shelter under a big ficus-tree leaf and after a short meditation it fell asleep.

The master awoke , outside the storm and rain tapping the ground ,

inside the intense dream still vivid in his mind .

So intense and clear was what he had experienced that he can not avoid this thought :

"Am i a Zen master who dreamed being a butterfly

or am i a butterfly dreaming that i am a Zen master ? "

although he was a recognized master No conclusion he can set , find or determine .

nevertheless he-it found peace and understanding ( he-it was a master ).

It is not a Koan , only and old tale.

simple but deep.

am i sure who am i ?

can i deal and find peace with-in undetermined unfixed and sometimes opposite concepts ?

is meditation helping me walking this path ?

what should i develop ? ; new concepts ? or a new open undetermined mind ?

this a share

only an old tale.

only seeker-human's old dilemmas and questions.

may all beings be free.

may all seekers find liberation .
